Product Care: Keeping your Ceramic Basin in Good Shape
Product Care: Keeping your Ceramic Basin in Good Shape
Aug 07, 2023

In the first installation of our product care series, Hupfarri shares on important pointers to help keep your ceramic basin clean and always ready for use! A clean bathroom space can help to add to our mood, leaving us happier and brighter day in and out.

To keep cleanliness at an optimal, we recommend that you clean the basin daily and do a deep clean weekly. The frequency helps prevent soap, scum or dirt from over accumulating and forming hard stains on your basin, giving you more and harder cleaning work in the long term. The good news is that ceramic basins are known to be easy to clean in general, thanks to their smooth, hard and completely closed surface.

Every day Upkeep

In day-to-day use, ensure that the basin is thoroughly rinsed off when there are any other liquids entering the basin such as soap water, toothpaste, shaving cream, gurgled water, etc.

This can be achieved by running the tap for a short while after use and ensuring the water rinses off the base of the basin.

Following this, wipe the surface dry with a microfibre cloth, you can keep one handy in each bathroom for such purposes. Pay special attention to flat surfaces where water is more likely to accumulate and stagnant.

Weekly Deep Clean

Once a week, work in a deep clean for your basin to keep it’s shine and also clean areas that are out of reach in our daily upkeep.

To start, unscrew the pop-up waste so that whole waste opening is exposed. That area will typically see a higher accumulation of stains and scums due to the natural crevice that forms when installing a pop-up waste in.

Now that the basin is ready, moisten a soft sponge and rub the soft sponge over the surfaces in small, circular movements with special focus on areas surrounding the waste opening. This helps to remove any deposits leaving your basin shiny and smooth to touch.

After the scrub, rinse with water and wipe the surface dry. Do a quick inspection of the pop-up waste and scrub off any scum that might be found on it too. Screw the pop-up waste back and your basin is ready to go once again!

If you haven’t been paying the most attention to ceramic basin cleanliness, it’s never too late to start! Now that we’ve laid out the steps, do you find it simpler than you initially thought? Happy Cleaning!
