Faucets are probably interacted with the most on a day-to-day basis, from washing up in the morning to winding down at night, the faucet is a steady companion in our lives. This also makes them one of the most noticeable things in the bathroom and keeping it clean can go a long way in keeping us soothed throughout the day. Nobody would like it if they had to come face to face with water stains whenever they use the bathroom.
With the varied surfaces and colours of the faucets, cleaning them the right way is essential for them to keep their shine or colour just as when you first unboxed them. As with every product, regular maintenance makes cleaning easier and is encouraged to keep your products living as long as you!
Everyday Upkeep
With daily maintenance, your faucet is actually good to go and will not require deep cleans. What’s great is that daily upkeep is not tough and is something that can be achieved in passing.
First, you will need a cloth that is easily accessible and ready to use. After every use (or at least at the end of the day), give your faucet a wipe down until dry. This is to ensure your faucet stays dry and prevents water stains when leftover water that has gathered on your faucet accumulates and evaporates.
Using a cloth is ideal as it helps to protect the surface of the faucet. In instance, chrome surfaces are prone to scratches and the softness of the cloth help keep its shine.
If you’re only doing a wipe down at the end of the day, you can slightly wet the cloth before using it for wipe down until dry.
Following, do a wipe down at the base of the basin or sink faucet to ensure no water buildup that might become grime if left to accumulate.
Deep Clean
Sometimes life gets in the way and cleanliness get neglected, that’s okay! What matters is that we bounce back and take control.
If water stains have started to build up on the faucet, use the soft side of the sponge and mild soap to scrub the stains off. You can use a mild citric-acid based cleaner, sprayed onto the sponge or a cloth, to get those pesky stains off.
For grime build up, utilise the cleaning solution again and scrub it with an old toothbrush or a narrow cleaning brush. For a deeper clean, use a dental floss and floss around the base.
A note on Faucet Finishes
For our coloured faucets – Gold, Rose Gold, Black and Gun Black Finishing – our colour finishes are achieved through electroplating, ensuring a long colour lifespan and resistance to peeling. However, this has to be accompanied with proper care and maintenance. Using soft sponges or cloths along with mild soap or just water is absolutely essential!
Faucets are delicate and should never be cleaned by abrasive cleaners such as rough sponges and harsh chemicals like bleach. Rough sponges will scratch the surface of the faucet and harsh chemicals will react with the faucet surface causing undesirable spots and stains.
